i just want to share a slice of my life you. i read blogs where people chronicle their lives and i get so jealous. i get to thinking that my life is such a bore that i could never pull off one of those blogs. plus i take the worst pics. unfortunately i havent been photogenic since i was a kid. but i wanted to give a shout out to some members of my inner circle. ?myk, apex (steve for those who dont know) and jimmy. we are the troublesome foursome coming to a restuarant near you on friday afternoons. if you see us cover your kids ears, keep the wheat bread and strawberry lemonade coming and dont expect us to leave any time soon. my schedule is cleared for this. only trips out of town can keep me from it.

all topics are up for discussion and no prudes are allowed. blogger may shut me down if i made a transcript of our conversations. so i will bite my tongue. so this is a shout out to my people for a few hours of misguided inspiration every payday friday.

I almost missed it

As Passover 2008 comes to a close. I just wanted to wish everybody a very Happy Passover to you and yours.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took this pic in the breakroom fridge. It just seemed like and odd way to reperesent your faith. and i never heard it phrased Happy Passover. Plus being the first born son, the passover story has always been terrifying. But to each his own and enjoy.

I hope you shared the same cheap laugh that i did.

For the last 5 years i have had a fascination with Afro-cuban and Afro-brazillian culture and music. the rhythms and perscussions just have a way to stir my soul like no other music. its still kind of primal. you can still hear Africa in the music. listening to his music for the first time was like when i first dusted off dad's Isaac Hayes albums almost 15 years ago.

This is one of my favorite songs of all genres. Compay was truly on his game. I am so grateful that he and other cuban musicians of his time lived so long that there music could be resurrected during the 90's after being repressed for so long under Castro's dictatorship. He wrote the following song and also plays the lead guitar on the following track. although i am fluent in spanish i cant understand a word he says. but the strings and flute make the words irrelevant. simply amazing. enjoy and never look back.

Return trip

the return trip is always the hardest. some lonnie liston smith, gil scot-heron and and brazilian percussion help the exits pass by. helped but a 3 hour trek immeadiately before work was cutting it a little too close. a little luisito quintero did help. but i was drained all night.

i always have a great time in atl, no matter what i do. my friends, family, the energy, the options, i can't lose. i got to get there more often. this trip illustrated how close atl is, but yet worlds away from charlotte.

shout goes to nigel and his trooper from GA Tech. a few days of that college life was nostalgic yet made me feel both young and vintage. enjoy those days young brothers.....

and the most bewildering moment......when the latin busboy at Glady Knight ran up on me trying to contain his enthusiasm cause he is a Little Brother fan. yeah that hoodie attracts rabid fans like me. big up to you and step your fandom up, cop all those lp's and mixtapes to keep up the good fight

Springtime

The peach tree blossoms. azalea flowers. more foot traffic.

Springtime is almost here and i love it. The signs are everywhere if you open your eyes and observer. No more cold, high Piedmont Natural Gas bills, the sweatsuit i wore as i lounged around the house, and the dingy towel I crammed in between the screen and front door to kill the draftiness. a beautiful time it will be. my peach trees blossomed and the birds are chirping. women start wearing less clothes andi give advance thanks to warm weather cleavage and lovely baby-oiled thighs. i can't wait.

but my enthusiasm is tempered cause there is a cost. there is a cost for everything on the westside. the cold weather receding means that the relative solace will end. yes, all of the fairweather vagrants, vagabonds, winos and addicts will emerge from hibernation. so will those jaywalking, stunt driving wheelchair racers will begin another season of Frogger. the mighty midget congregation, the parking lot panhandlers in front of the Food Dog and once again we become worrisome ATM withdrawers as the foot traffic swirls around us at a most vulnerable time. i might have to change my blog title, cause maybe i have more redeeming qualities than i give myself credit.

this shit is so hilarious to me. to each his own, but damn. licking stilleto heels, thats over the line. feet worship, i dont quite get that one either. i'm not hatin, cause i've sucked toes before. i was 17, i did it, she liked it, i scratched it off my list. and she didnt have corn, this chick is working on a damn bushel.

we have hit a new low.

I am a hipocrite, yeah i admit it. I watch trashy reality TV from my righteaous soapbox, with a Cornell West dissertation cracked open and highlighted up to chapter 5. I am so glad i dont have Nielsen box on my TV cause i would be exposed as the fraud that i am. simply put, all i need is some t&a to be a semi-loyal viewer. if there is one chick who I find attractive, I am tuning in. And attractive is relative, she can be sexy, or stacked or buxom. I will watch the show until she gets booted off then i decide to casually glance at another horrid program until my atttention wanes again.

i have watched all three seasons of flavor of love. and this season is by far the worst. these chicks are far from being TV worthy. and to make it worst at least 8 of them will show up modeling. seriously. not saying they will get far, but they will show up on mediatakeout.com's blotter one day. sinceer has a receeded forehead. shy is a half-assed new york. thing 1 and 2, look like slumpbusters. hotlanta, come on dog. there are no words. needless to say the quality was not there.

so i watched the latest episode. bunz was sent home. damn!!!! by no means was she a dime. she looks like she came from one of those everest college commercials. yeah, the ones where she says being a single mom, making minimum wage does not cut it. just cause i am a single mother, no excuses. you know the one. nonetheless, she at least appeared to be somewhat normal and comparitively she stepped up the eye candy factor, in the we kicked it for a minute while in training class way. but its not hot when you kids dont have lights or shelter and you are chasing flav's ugly ass. bad priorities. then myamee, was sent home cause flav was duped. that one cut deep. she was the lone bright spot.

so now, there is nothing to look at, bad attitudes, bad breath equals bad programming. we should call a moritorium on this garbage.

I have permanantly turned the channel. Even i have standards.
