the concert is over but i can't get it off of my head. i have been waiting for this video since December. In Decemebr Nicolay said Take Off the Blues would be the next singlei finally got it. i am so happy that they are getting some shine, still not as much as they deserve but a step in the right direction. i saw them in Carrboro at the Cat's Cradle on Fri on a cupcake mission. then my peoples, whom i am so proud of came out in numbers in Charlotte on Sunday.
So to Charlotteans, thanks for bringin ya black asses out and allowing yourselves to get blessed. hopefully this wont be the last time. can we represent more than once this year, please.

Damn Jakes!
i got harassed by the pigs today. it took me till i was 29 to get this definitively black experience. i was driving down the highway. i passed a cop on the side of the road. i had slowed down so i was doing close to the speed limit when i passed. about two miles down the road i see the cop coming up behind me. being innocent, i moved to the right lane to let him pass. he followed. then cut on the lights. i obliged. i was a little pissed that i might get a second speeding ticket in 6 months.
he rolls up and asks for my license and registration. and then tells me that when i had passed him i was going 70 mpg, which is the speed limit in Davidson County, NC, but i was only two carlengths behind the truck in front of me. and by law i should be at least 1 carlength per each 10mpg of speed i am driving. now i sincerely tried to not give him the infamous frq sideye. yeah the one that acknowledges how much of a dumbass i really think you are. i don't know if that worked, but he immeadiately said that at most i would get written warning. now, besides a little wasted time, i would take that and not let Jake fuck up a lovely Spring day in NC, one of the few absolutely free things in life i enjoy.
so as i wait on the shoulder besides mile marker 99, i watch as he types on the computer and talks on his walkie talkie about three times. he then returns to the car, hands me my registration (actually bill of sale cause i just bought the car last week) but there is not damn citation. he holds on to my license asks me where i was going, where i was leaving from, and to confirm my address in the most casual way. he asks when i bought the car, now i almost messed up.
now all of my info is in my name. and as a cop he has to know that it takes a while for the dmv to send your plates and registration. so dont trip, flatfooter!!! but he asks again, when did i buy the car. i said two weeks ago because thats when i should have received the car. well due to some slack ass mechanics and lack of open conversation i had to wait a full week before i could pick it up and finalize the deal. so my answer was unclear and for a professional racial profiler from Davidson County, my answers werent totally adding up. but my info is straight so go back to eating donuts and maybe even do some real police work. i retract my earlier statement and tell him the correct date. nice and succint, luckily i had my glasses on and didnt look threatening. he returns my ID and i leave.
i have a policy to never let cops fuck up my days so my blood pressure didnt rise even little bit. cause i'd hate to give them the pleasure of making some trumped up charges and red tape that will at the end cost me time energy and money and maybe some jobs in the future. some of these clowny ass hr reps look at the arrests and make a decision without thinking about convictions or getting any other information. especially cause i have nothing to hide. you gotta do better if you think you can serve the kid.
who are you serving and who are you protecting? i have the right to drive an 02 Jetta that i bought. and drive within the speed limit.
try this help, me somebody some time. wouldnt that be a good idea.
