400 meter hurdles (Part 2)

taylor, clement,

congrats to the trio of taylor, clement and jackson for the US sweep of the 400mh. after watching the semis, i felt a sweep coming. i texted nigel, immo and kobe and told them. and for once i was right. ga tech's own taylor took command and still hasnt let go. shout out to y'all for bringing home the hardware to the US. cause we really really needed it this time around.

Usain Bolt/The Future

usain

The Olympics has been amazing. Jamacia has taken over track and field. i have been watching the olymics to be amazed at their next competitor more than to root for the US. not that i am being patriotic, but our team is getting outperformed every day. the Jamacians are not rising to the occassion but seizing it. Bolt ran 19.30, breaking a record that i really never expected to get touched for at least another 20 years. i mean, no one has run within in .3 of a second of that record, so seeing it smashed was really unheard of.

us sprinters have a lot of work to do in the future. Bolt will continue to re-write the history books, while we search for an answer

400 meter hurdles

in my former life i was a hurdler and actually was pretty good for a while. so the Olympics is a big thing. and besides has half way brought me out of my current slump. for those who have been watching the 100m final was amazing. the first jamacian olympic gold medal at world record pace. truly amazing. but the 400m hurdles is by far my favorite event. the men's final is tonight. i predict an American sweep. we all but own this event at the olympics and it will not change in Bejing. and i think Ga Tech's own Angelo Taylor is a dark horse to win, after seeing how smooth he was in both the quarter and semifinals.

i leave you with some of my favorite races, hopefully tonights race will compare

John Akii-Bua, delivering Uganda's first gold medal in 1972 Munich (lane 1)

Edwin Moses Gold Medals in Montreal 76 and LA 84
edwin moses la84

Kevin Young Barcelona 92 46.78 current world record

more to come later

Rip Isaac Hayes

we lost another legend, damn!!! this one cut me deep. i became a isaac hayes fan listening to his records in my parents' living room as a teenager. From "To Be Continued", "Joy", "The Isaac Hayes Movement", "Black Moses", to Dead President's Soundtrack he dropped classic material. and those lp's i took from my parents last year for my own collection.

it was more than soulful love songs. he talked for me, when i got myself tangled intoanother complicid situation. he talked as if he had been there himself. and he would even put the rap on the chicks. and not some simpy, i can't breathe without you type game. it was what they call "real talk"(i really hate that term).

his talent was phenomenal. the arrangements, the delivery, the songwriting, even his re-makes were amazing. he remade country songs and made them his own. and he was the epitome of his era. when music fans had more than a knat size attention span.

he made great music for music lovers. he made us into music lovers. there will be no more like you. you are tremendously missed.

the shaft theme song is a bad ass song.

its shameful when he has to be mentioned as the chef from south park for name recognition.

did i mention fashion icon. i know you saw the chainlink shirt he wore on the cover of Joy and in the video above.

Driving while black, some serious shit

Driving while black in Charlotte is some risky shit. Peep this narrative from my boy Steve. Damn CMPD is like Pac Man from Colors. They got the game all fucked up.

Reasonable Suspicion

So where do i begin with this one? Well i'll start by sayin im kinda at stagnate point right now so when a good day, good week, or jus a moment comes i cherish them greatly. With the exception of a mistake caring over from last week this week was pretty good. I created some new avenues, conversed with some folks about possible opts, met people, jus things of that nature. Along with my steady diet of garlic flavored tofu with rice and my consistent workout routine everything was everything! Wednesday was a different day. My sixth sense is REALLY strong when i feel things in my life change. Sometimes its jus a feelin other times i get these crazy visuals when something is going down (good or bad). That sixth sense started and because of it this wasn't one of my better mood days and it DEFINITELY carried over into my night. Well already exhausted and worn out from an overly crowed night at the loft, i decided to bail out.***it gets ugly here***So im at the stop light on tryon gettin ready to bust left on craighead, Ironically i see 4 fuckin cop cars! Strangely enough none of them behind me though (a strategic set up). So i make my turn on craighead. Whata ya know?!?! One of those fuckin cops are tailing me from a distance. I turn on graham then COMPLETELY OUT OF NOWHERE ITS SIX COP CARs SURROUNDING MY SHIT! Theirs about 10 cops, 10 9mm's and enough bullets to kill like 80 people. Now im on the ground, my trucks gettin ram shacked, then handcuffed and shoved in the back of a cop's car. Its a 40 minute wait, tons of stupid ass question, blood circulation in my hands cut the hell off for WHAT?!?! REASONABLE SUSPICION.............

reasonable suspicion, of what??? didnt know that driving home sober on a Wednesday night is being such a menace to society.

RIP Bernie Mac

Damn another legend gone too soon. You will be truly missed.

So i left you with this classic that brought him to the world.

up your octane

you gotta live life as it comes to you. that myopic corportate, qc, lifestle staying cooped up till the weekend. then being uptight at the party. is absurd and horrible. we are young and single, this is the prime of our lives. live a little. take a chance, a leap. you can get by on 4 hours of sleep sometime or make it till payday friday with a few less dollars than you planned.

my life runs on a higher octane premium going on nascar 108. that two-cycle lawnmower gas lifestyle is lame. step up your octane, before life passes you by.

Hold on to your excuses

it was a classic show from Nas, aka Nasty Nas. unlike common he took the reigns and brought the house down. spitting classics from the top

NY State of Mind
The World is Yours
Life's a Bitch
Represent
One Love
Halftime
Ain't Hard to Tell

and then top it off with...........................
Live at the BBQ

and i wont even mention the rest of his performance, talib or jay.

if you weren't there you are square. thats the only nice way i can put it. I hope you had fun watching Law & Order SVU. And hold on to that $40 and go to one of the exciting non-networking parties this weekend. hahahah.

sincerely,

o2 aka frq

Thats what I'm looking for

here at frq, i am doing some r & r (revamp and re-evaluate aka lower standards). so if you get down like khia in this song, we can make it work. most of my other preconceptions and concernings are now afterthoughts like common interests, good financial standing, getting along with my family etc. if you live within 10 miles of zip code 28216 and you are single, freaky, pretty, disease and mostly drama free, we can make this thing work. especially if you have some extra money on your EBT card to spare or your own CHA (Charlotte Housing Authority) apartment. all deluxe passengers on the lowered standard express can find themselves privy to over 220 lbs of dreamy chocolate goodness that may even throw you a few dollars toward your cricket and/or section 8 or CHA subsidized housing expenses. we can listen to lil wayne o

lol, she called herself a lady. and wanted to meet someone's mother. wow. khia is too much.

Home is where the heart is (28216)

home sweet home
i was on the bus today and observed the westside with new eyes. i know in the past my neighborhood has been the butt of jokes. some of which were very funny, i must admit, but now let me enlighten you on the other side of the tale.

i just wanna give a shout out to the beaties ford corridor, from trade st, jcsu, past oaklawn to lasalle, thru griers grove up to trinity park. this is my area, no doubt.

today i observed and appreciated you in a way never before. looking the the glass of the 7N this morning you, i became part of you. not like usual when i'm transvering on you on my bike or jetta. light here, light here turn, slow down then quentin st, is the usual way of things. today i saw your beauty.

the crape myrtles trees in beautiful bloom, the hard working brothers at the city water works, the gleam of chrome as a youngin hustles for a tip at the detail shop, the array of oils and incense sold in front of Mr. C's, the young tenders shaped and stout at the shopping center and the old perverse passerbys getting an big eyeful, shoptalk an the buzz of clippers at Anderton's, beating the lunchtime line as we all try to cash in on the footlong for $5, the proud father at the busstop with his gorgeous babygirl, the dark skinned sista in all her chocolate glory leaving the dooby shop, ms barbara removing her newport to give the "bidness" to the congregation of teenagers at the edge of her lawn, to stealing some shade in the carport, under the eavesment or taking advantage of the shade of aged and overgrown trees throughout University Park, the regalness of the older homes maintained by our benevolent elders, especially 1600 Beaties Ford, i'm gonna get you somehow, sometime.........and did it tell you i am up to my ears in fresh Quentin St peaches, ripe and juicy, like a farmer i harvest them everyday, you can't get that in Old Stone Crossing, McIntyre, Ballantyne, where you live, not at all. i love Quentin St, University Park and the 28216.

hold on, i have no love for any of those brick huts in University Park or LaSalle or the Texaco beside 77. if you dont know, just trust me.

so for my remaining time in qc, i will be no where else. yeah i'll put in some sweat equity and make this place sexy, new floors, paint and fixtures. then i'll be good. home is definately where the heart is.

The Dark Side had a recruting problem

Image Hosting
i guess you think, i'm that nerd. ill be that. but i was watching all of the star wars movies last summer. and as an adult you see things kind of differently. darth vader was a beast. in reality there is no way luke's innocent ass stood a chance against him. with just the designer toga pantsuit he was wearing and that damn light sabre, vader would have flossed his teeth with him or any jedi. rules and etiquette are nice. like the stuff we tell kids to keep there innoncence. but bad would have triumphed over good on that day.

seriously, darth vader choked his subordinates through a teleconference screen. then later he strangled him and appointed his 2nd in command on site. seriously he was a bad motherfucker.

but as i was watching, it hit me. vader had swagger, power, he was the strongeest in the universe, and he had a dope uniform and theme music but he had no bitches. what the fuck?????????? none, whatsoever. even sloppy, gimpy ass jaba the hut had intergalactic chicks. wasnt the chick chained up with princess laya, green and looked like the opera singer in the Fifth Element. you cant tell me there are no bad females throughout the galaxy.

now i have posed this arguement before. and was told that he had no use for women cause his "banger" got burnt off in episode III after the fight with obee wonkonobee. which may explain it all. but after seeing his display of strength and how luke's hand was surgically reattached in Empire Strikes Back, i firmly believe that with that advanced technology, getting a new one would not have been a problem.

and i always thought that was the point in being a bad guy/world conquerer. no rules, means i steal and kill whomever. then at night, have orgies with their women. thats how it used to be(ie the Greeks and Romans). those wee the spoils of war. maybe that will be played out by the end of this millenium.

if i had seen Vader's harem, as a young impressionable child on of those offbeat universes, i would have signed up myself. i'd be darkside for life.

Blind dedication

its pretty self explanitory. gotta step game up like phonte says. "cant get christal with a boones farm mindstate"

7.08.2008

4th of July

triz
the weekend of the fourth has been really amazing. from qc to salsbury to gboro back to qc, the kid has been on the run and was rarely seen without a plate in my hand. and this weekend has some surprises, three for the good and one for the bad. getting some long overdue time with my cousin tristan was the most mindblowing. we have come along way from disneyland and the summer at west oak lane in 1986. i admit we didnt mix for a while. but fortunately years later and some maturing, at least on my side, i am very happy that we can start anew. so at times i was in awe cause i was getting to know my cousin for the first time at age 28. its a great thing.

so this is a shout to my big cousin tristan. see in you philly htis fall. i promise.

7.01.2008

So i am at work.......(3)

and we get stuck up by some unarmed white trash druggie. all he had was a half-assed threatening tone in his voice and a bottle of vitamin water in the small of his back. once again some real shameful shit. it never stops. and to make things worse. i called the cops and he was apprehended in less than 90 seconds, cause 3 cop cars were across the street cause he tried the same thing there a few minutes earlier.

and i knew he didnt have a gun. i would have bet all of my future powerball earnings on it. once again pretty shameful.......
